The Ramp Supervisor leads, coordinates, and monitors frontline ramp crews (Level 1 and Level 2 Ramp Agents) during an assigned shift. The primary objective is to manage labor allocation across multiple aircraft gates, ensure strict adherence to airside safety regulations, monitor Ground Support Equipment (GSE) availability, and maintain smooth, injury-free ground operations that align with airline Service Level Agreements (SLAs).<\/p>\n
Crew Leadership & Resource Allocation<\/p>\n
Team Deployment: Assign crews of Level 1 and Level 2 Ramp Agents to specific areas (stands, terminal) based on peak flight arrivals and departures, ensuring adequate manpower for every aircraft turn.<\/p>\n
Shift Briefings: Conduct mandatory pre-shift safety briefings (tool box talks) to review daily flight volumes, potential weather hazards, and special cargo handling instructions.<\/p>\n
Time & Performance Management: Monitor staff punctuality, manage shift rosters, and authorize overtime or tactical adjustments when flight delays occur.<\/p>\n
Airside Safety & Standard Enforcement<\/p>\n
Safety Auditing: Actively monitors assigned activites to ensure 100% compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) mandates and IATA Ground Operational Manual (IGOM) standards.<\/p>\n
GSE Oversight: Enforce safe driving habits on the ramp. Ensure that only certified agents operate heavy GSE (like loaders and pushback tractors) and that all equipment undergoes pre-operational safety checks.<\/p>\n
Incident Reporting: Serve as the first responder to any airside accidents, personal injuries, or equipment-to-aircraft collisions. Secure the scene, initiate drug\/alcohol testing protocols, and complete comprehensive incident investigation reports.<\/p>\n
Operational Performance & SLA Monitoring<\/p>\n
Baggage Flow Assurance: Oversee the ramp-side connection to the terminal's baggage sortation system to guarantee that baggage carts depart for aircraft stands without bottlenecking.<\/p>\n
Turnaround Support: Intervene and assist Turnaround Coordinators (Red Caps) when ground handlers or baggage crews fall behind schedule, deploying extra personnel to recover lost time.<\/p>\n
FOD Compliance: Enforce continuous gate cleaning protocols to prevent Foreign Object Debris from damaging aircraft engines.<\/p>\n
Education:<\/p>\n
High School Diploma or local equivalent secondary school certificate.<\/p>\n
A degree or vocational training in Aviation, Logistics or Business Administration is highly regarded.<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
Minimum of 3-5 years of active experience working on airport ramp Proven experience leading or mentoring junior crew members is essential. Clean disciplinary and safety records<\/p>\n
